Captain Johnson commands the Patrol Division, which is comprised of five patrol teams.

Captain Johnson began his law enforcement career in 1998, where he worked as a Public Safety Officer with the Medical University of South Carolina Public Safety. In 2002, he joined the Summerville Police Department. In that time, he has served in several capacities during his tenure, including uniform patrol, narcotics investigator, patrol supervisor, and patrol watch commander. Captain Johnson maintains several certifications including Field Training Officer and Specific Skills Instructor. Further training and certifications include SMD, SFST, DMT, Crime Scene Investigation, Midlevel Management, Principles of Supervision, Statement Analysis, Reid Technique of Interviewing and Interrogation, Investigation, Surveillance and Undercover Officer Techniques and the FBI’s Carolina Command College. Captain Johnson received an Associates of Art’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix.
