There were 131 Traffic Collisions (involving 263 units) investigated by the Summerville Police Department in April.  1 was worked for state patrol out of our jurisdiction. 1 involved a commercial vehicle, 2 a bicycle, 2 a motorcycle, 1 a moped, and 1 a pedestrian. There were 2 fatalities out of one collision involving a motorcycle, and 1 driving under the influence arrest was made during these investigations.

Ø      21 injuries out of 358 occupants; of those injured 18 were

        transported to the hospital

Ø        3 vehicle confirmed with no insurance (8 were unknown)

Ø        8 hit and run collisions

Ø      33 collisions occurred in intersections (7 were driveways)

Ø      23 collisions occurred on wet roads

Ø      26 occurred on Monday

Ø      17 occurred on Tuesday

Ø      19 occurred on Wednesday

Ø      15 occurred on Thursday

Ø      30 occurred on Friday

Ø      16 occurred on Saturday

Ø        8 occurred on Sunday

Ø      17 occurred on US 17A N (11 North of 9^th st)

Ø        9 occurred on US 17A S

Ø      10 occurred on US 78

Ø      11 occurred on Trolley Rd

Ø        5 occurred on Bacons Bridge Rd

         (0 around Lee ST, 4 around BGM PKWY)

Ø      11 occurred on Berlin G Myers Pkwy (none at 3^rd St)

Ø        6 occurred on Dorchester Rd

Ø      32 occurred on Private Property

Ø      21 occurred due to Failure to Yield Right of Way

Ø      67 occurred due to Following Too Close/Inattention

Ø      19 occurred due to Improper Backing

Ø        5 occurred due to Disregarding a Traffic Signal or Stop Sign 

Ø        Citations were issued in 63 of the 131 collisions investigated
