Major Frank A. Nigro Jr.
|
Major Frank A. Nigro Jr. has been
with the department since June of 1986. Major Nigro
serves as the Assistant Chief of Police. His most recent
assignment was Captain, and served as the Uniform
Division Commander.
His previous assignments include patrol officer,
traffic officer, patrol supervisor, traffic supervisor,
detective, and was the first K-9 handler for the
department as well as a trained crisis negotiator.
As the Assistant Chief of Police it is my responsibility
to ensure that our mission as the Summerville Police
Department, and as individual Police Officers is carried
out by all officers under my command, that mission is:
Safeguard life and property, preserve the peace,
prevent and detect crime, enforce the law, and protect
the rights of all citizens. We are committed to working
in partnership with the community to identify and
resolve issues that impact public safety.

Captain Michael J.
Donoghue
|
Captain Michael J. Donoghue
commands the administrative division.
Captain Donoghue joined the Summerville Police
Department in 1993 as a patrolman after serving
eight years with the City of North Charleston
Police. He has held numerous positions
with the town including detective, patrol
supervisor, professional standards officer,
detective division commander and uniform
division commander.
Captain Donoghue is a law enforcement instructor
certified by the South Carolina Criminal Justice
Academy. He holds advanced certifications
in the areas of firearms and emergency vehicle
operations.
Captain Donoghue has a bachelor’s degree in
criminal justice from Charleston Southern
University and a master’s degree in political
science from The Citadel. While at
Charleston Southern University he was named to
“Who’s Who of American College Students” and
elected a member of Alpha Chi National College
Honor Society. Captain Donoghue is an
adjunct professor of criminal justice on the
faculties of Trident Technical College and Park
University.

Captain Jon Rogers
|
Captain Jon Rogers
is the commander of the Investigations Division.
His duties include supervising the Criminal
Investigations, Narcotics, Crime Scene and
Victim Advocates.
He joined the
Summerville Police Department in 1999 as a
patrolman after serving five years with the Isle
of Palms. Previous positions within the
S.P.D. include sergeant of the criminal
investigations, detective, patrol supervisor,
professional standards officer and field
training officer.
Captain Rogers is
certified through the South Carolina Criminal
Justice Academy and has advanced training in
homicide investigation and white collar crime.
Captain Rogers is a graduate of the 238th
session of the FBI National Academy

Captain Roger F. Pierce
|
Captain
Roger Pierce commands the Uniform Patrol Division.
His duties include supervising the Uniform Patrol,
Traffic Services, School Resource Officers and
Warrants.
Captain
Pierce joined the Summerville Police Department in
October 2007 after serving thirty one years with the
City of North Charleston Police. He began his
career in law enforcement in 1971. His career
includes stints with the Department of Defense,
North Charleston Police Department. During his
career at North Charleston Police Department he held
numerous positions and ranks within the Patrol,
Investigative, Administrative, Special Operations
Bureaus. He was a member of Command Staff of the
Department as Deputy Chief of Police.
Captain
Pierce has a Associate Degree in Criminal
Justice from Trident Technical College and is FBI
National Academy 139th Session graduate as well.
As the
Captain of the Uniform Division it is my
responsibility to ensure professional public safety
services while working in partnership with the
community of Summerville by seeking their input,
responding to their concerns and resolving problems
of both citizens and businesses to identify,
prevent and solve the problems of crime, social
disorder, neighborhood decay, thereby improving the
quality of life in our community.
I consider
it both an honor and a privilege to serve the town
